See it, do it

I am working on creating a new habit: whenever I see some chore that needs to be done, I aim to do it then, unless I can legitimately say that I do not have the time. I am learning that this desired habit is much easier to say than to do, but I have made some progress. The result is that my house is staying tidier, my laundry is getting done sooner, and my to-do list now has room for me to tackle other projects. I have lots of room for improvement, mind you, but the progress is encouraging. It's also, in many ways, comforting. I see fewer piles of dishes and stacks of magazines waiting to be thrown away, which results in me feeling more at peace in my surroundings. Peace is something I treasure immensely, so I use that as a motivator when I begin to procrastinate.

What could motivate you to create a new habit?
